Wanderers coach says sorry for media no-show as his side puts the drama behind them to overcome Perth
The Wanderers coach admits he has stuff going on in his personal life, and insists he has full support of playing group.
Last year’s A-League premiers – Perth Glory – have so far struggled to recapture their dominant form. A 1-2-1 start is hardly the ideal beginning – how worried should they be?
It continues a concerning trend for second-year coach Tony Popovic who, on the previous three occasions he’s made the grand final loss, has suffered a 17-point drop-off the following season (on average).
While he’s been able to return to the final on two of those three occasions – even making the final again once – Perth’s start to the year would have WA football fans nervous.
Especially when you consider their start to the season has seen them play three of last year’s bottom five teams and the new kids on the block in Western United.
Has Andy Keogh’s departure hamstrung them up forward? Why aren’t Bruno Fornaroli and Diego Castro hitting the back of the net?
We were joined on the Game of Codes podcast by Roar football expert Matthew Galea to diagnose what’s gone wrong for the Glory this season and whether they can turn it around.
