How long can the Dragons give McGregor to turn it around?

2019 was a year to forget for Dragons fans, with only the seemingly NRL parody club Gold Coast keeping the joint venture away from the wooden spoon.

Eyebrows were raised at Kogarah when coach Paul McGregor was handed a two-year extension early in the season and, when it fell apart soon thereafter, fans were up in arms.

The Dragons had more than their share of off-field distractions, but the personnel they put on the park had no business finishing that low.

A comprehensive review of the football department recently concluded at St George Illawarra, with eight people departing.

However, the man they call ‘Mary’ wasn’t one of them.

Is McGregor on his last roll of the dice with the red V next season? Is he the right man to turn the perennial underachievers around and, if he is, how long should the club give him to get the job done?

We were joined on the Game of Codes podcast by Roar rugby league expert AJ Mithen to make sense of the McGregor situation and make a call on how it all plays out in 2020.

Listen to the discussion in the player above.
