The first Test between Australia and Pakistan is now just a week away, but there’s still some doubt over who will be picked for the home side.

While some players are certainties to line up at the Gabba – starting with, oh, I dunno, Steve Smith – there are a few positions which are up in the air. So we want you to tell us who should be in the XI.

One of those question marks is at the top of the order. Following some blistering form against Sri Lanka and Pakistan – albeit in the shortest format of the game – David Warner is a lock for the Brisbane Test, but his opening partner isn’t.

Joe Burns, Usman Khawaja, Marcus Harris and Cameron Bancroft were all picked for Australia A against Pakistan in a three-day tour match which wrapped up last night, and all are in the running to open the batting next week.

Khawaja, and to a lesser extent Burns, are also in contention to fill a remaining middle-order position, while fellow Australia A players Travis Head and Will Pucovski are also vying for a spot in the XI.

On the bowling front, we can expect to see world no.1-ranked Test bowler Pat Cummins lining up in Brisbane, and state teammates Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon are also likely selections.

An all-NSW attack featuring Mitchell Starc could be on the cards, but there are other options to fill out the attack with, including Jhye Richardson, James Pattinson and Michael Neser.

So, who should make the XI? Have your say in the poll below, and we’ll have the answers up soon.

Editor’s note: Since publishing this article, news has broken that Will Pucovski has withdrawn from Test selection to have a mental wellbeing break. We’ve removed his name from the poll as a result.
