With the 2010s coming to a close, it’s time to look back on the decade that was.

Today, we start our two-part series on the coach of the decade – starting with the AFL. Alastair Clarkson is the hot favourite to take out the gong here, but has Damien Hardwick done enough in the last three seasons to mount a serious challenge?

How much credit does Dimma deserve for bringing the Tigers out of the doldrums during compromised drafts? How much does four years without a finals win count against Clarko?

Is there a dark horse we’re not thinking of who deserves to be in the conversation?

We were joined on the Game of Codes podcast by Roar AFL expert Adrian Polykandrites to look at the facts and figures around both men and make a call on who the coach of the decade is.

Listen to the discussion in the player above.

Stay tuned tomorrow on the The Roar as we have a look at the NRL coach of the decade too. If you want to jump ahead, however, you can listen to that debate in the full episode.

Visit our Game of Codes hub to catch the full episode and be sure to subscribe and review on iHeartRadio, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts or wherever else you’re listening.
