A new era in Australian rugby began officially yesterday, with the appointment of Dave Rennie as the next head coach of the Wallabies.

Following an incredibly underwhelming tenure under Michael Cheika, Wallabies fans have been crying out for change for several years now and, today, their prayers were finally answered.

Despite the controversy generated by a Kiwi coaching the Australian national side, Rennie’s resume is impressive.

In six seasons with the Chiefs of Super Rugby – where he won two championships – and another two with Glasgow Warriors of the Pro 14 – he’s never had a losing season.

We were joined on the Game of Codes podcast by Roar rugby expert Brett McKay to assess just what kind of impact Rennie will have in his first year at the Wallabies.

What will he look to change straight away? What’s been the secret to his success over the journey and how can he replicate it with the Wallabies?

What are the realistic expectations to set for the calendar year ahead?

Listen to the debate in the player above.
