Babbel and Georgievski cited for code of conduct breaches

By News / Wire

Western Sydney coach Markus Babbel and defender Daniel Georgievski have been issued show cause notices under the FFA National Code of Conduct for incidents following the Wanderers’ home loss to Melbourne City last Friday.

Babbel was cited for comments he made at his post match press conference following the 3-2 A-League defeat.

Full back Georgievski was cited for a social media post.

Both are believed to be related to a contentious penalty awarded to City.

Babbel took exception to a couple of questions about the penalty, which was given by referee Chris Beath after Wanderers’ midfielder Pirmin Schwegler was ruled to have pushed Denis Genreau in the box in the second half.

Asked if he thought it was a penalty, Babbel said: “Is this a serious question? Serious question? F***’s sake. No comment.”

Pressed further on whether he thought Genreau dived, Babbel said: “You have two eyes. Do you understand the game a bit? F***ing have a look.”

Full back Georgievski posted a picture, which may have been taken just after the penalty was awarded, with Beath shown in front of some players with the word “disgraced” superimposed on top.

Both Babbel and Georgievski have an opportunity to provide a submission by 5pm (AEDT) on Monday, 2 December 2019.

Among the sanctions applicable for a Code of Conduct breach are a reprimand, a fine and/or suspension from participation in a match or matches.

And we can blame Nick Ruppolo for the citation for asking the most stupid question (twice) in an attempt to get Markus Babbel to criticize the referee and VAR. Did Babbel criticize the Chris Beath or Kris Griffiths-Jones directly? No. Babbel tells it like it is. And to quote Simon Hill, who commentated the match on the Fox Football Podcast "That's not a pen, that's not a pen" So how was the standard of officiating at the Adelaide v Mebourne Victory game? Not a query about Alireza Faghani on that game. So why does Chris Beath always stuff up? He is a hangover from awful boys club appointment to the A-league referees panel by Ben Wilson as is Kris Griffiths-Jones. I hope the new management of the professional leagues (A-league, W-League and Y-league) do not continue the tenure of Beath as a full time referee next season. I also hope to see the end of Kris Griffiths-Jones on the professional leagues as a referee.

Is Wanderers own fault , the same way other teams are scouts referees should also be. As soon I saw the referee allocated to us I knew something was going to happen to spoil the night , a referee where we have won only 4 out of 20 and unusual calls have happened while he is in charge WSW players should have been saints because when he is in charge he will blow against them even for the act of breathing and no one will make my view change and future games will show how right I am . Sorry Chris Beath but I think you have a biass against WSW.
