Victoria have recalled Will Pucovski and Nic Maddinson after the pair were cleared to make their return to cricket following absences to deal with mental health issues.

However, veteran Glenn Maxwell was not named for the Sheffield Shield clash with NSW, with no time frame provided for his return as he continues to address his mental health.

Fast bowler James Pattinson has been named for the match, starting Friday at the MCG, subject to being released from Australia’s Test Squad while Marcus Harris also returns having missed the last Shield match with Australia A duties.

Cricket Victoria general manager Cricket Shaun Graf welcomed the return of talented duo Maddinson and Pucovski.

“We are looking forward to having Nic and Will back playing for Victoria after receiving clearance from our medical staff,” Graf said.
“We’ll continue to support all our players through their return to play.”

Recent debutant Jake Fraser-McGurk (under 19 national championships) and Eamonn Vines have been omitted.

Victoria will be looking to register their first win of the Sheffield Shield competition, having played out a draw and three losses from the initial four rounds.
