The second day of the 2019 AFL Draft has come to an end with 44 more players finding AFL homes, including some of the notable sliders from the first night.

Dev Robertson, who many were surprised to see drop out of the first round of the draft, was the first name to be called out on the second day as Brisbane traded up to add him to their list.

Gold Coast also made a major move in live trading on night two, giving up their 2019 mid-first-round priority pick, traded to Geelong, to get Jeremy Sharp.

That leaves Geelong with three first-round picks in next year’s draft already – their own, West Coast’s, and the Suns’ priority selection.

Port Adelaide and Hawthorn successfully matched bids for Jackson Mead and Finn Maginness respectively, but Richmond managed to snatch a few players from rival clubs’ academies.

They took Noah Cumberland and Will Martyn from Brisbane’s academy, and St Kilda NGA prospect Bigoa Nyuon.

Brisbane also lost father-son prospect Lachie Johnson – who they had only offered a rookie deal – to Essendon, who picked him at 63.

Trent Bianco (Collingwood, pick 45) and Cameron Taheny (Geelong, pick 50) proved to be two of the most notable sliders of the draft, having both been in the mix for top 30 selection or earlier.

However there are plenty of notable prospects remaining on the board for tomorrow’s rookie draft, including a two-time under-18 All Australian in Mitch O’Neill, as well as others like Cooper Sharman, Darcy Cassar and Fraser Phillips.
