From one decade to the next: Where will football be in Australia in 10 years?

We’re debuting another new segment on The Roar’s Game of Codes podcast today.

With the 2010s decade winding down, we’re jumping in the time machine and moving forward a decade to ask where your favourite sport will be in ten years.

Football is the first cab off the rank, so we got Roar expert Mike Tuckerman on the Game of Codes podcast to cast an eye forward and work out what the best and worst-case scenarios are for the round-ball code in Australia in ten years’ time.

This decade started with A-League expansion, rising crowds and boundless optimism, but it’s been rough sailing since.

With Foxtel allegedly doing everything they can to get out of their broadcast agreement with the A-League, how much of a threat is our top domestic competition under when the broadcast deal expires in 2023? Are any free-to-air partners interested in picking it up?

How important is future expansion and, potentially, the addition of a second division to the A-League in the near future? Can the Socceroos take the next step in their international standing?

Listen to the discussion in the player above.
