Who performed, and who didn’t, in Round 10 of the A-League?

Hot
Anthony Lesiotis

Had limited opportunities thus far into his young Melbourne Victory career but looked right at home when thrown into the deep end against the Phoenix on the weekend.

Six ball recoveries, five tackles, 71 per cent pass shows the youngster has a lot to offer and was one of the shining lights in what was a disappointing performance from his side.

Andrew Redmayne
Was a brick-wall for his side on the weekend, and a major reason as to why his side kept a clean sheet and took all three points.

Made three crucial saves which should have been goals and proving a presence as all 11 of the Mariners shots failed to find the back of the net.

Melbourne City
How do you respond after you’re embarrassed 3-0 at home to the bottom team? You come out the next week and put four goals past the Jets and record an impressive away win.

Recording eight more shots (21-13) for the game, City dominated attacking play and reaped the rewards.

Cold
Brisbane Roar

Fowler appears to grow more and more frustrated as his team failed to deliver once again as they fell 2-0 to United.

Dominating possession (72 per cent – 28 per cent) and recording 14 more shots (20-6), the Roar failed to be clinical in what has been a constant theme for the side.

The team needs to finish their chances if they are to win games this season. Football is a simple game, score more you win more.

Western Sydney Wanderers
Different opposition, same result. The Wanderers have lost five games in a row, as things get from bad to worse as the Glory and Phoenix getting results means the side now sit outside of the top six.

Markus Babbel may say there isn’t pressure on his side to perform because of no relegation in the A-League, but if they’re going to accomplish anything this season they need to start winning.

Newcastle Jets defence
Couldn’t have played City at a better time. Going through a rough-patch of form including a 3-0 loss to Perth Glory were at the bottom of the table at the time, City were vulnerable travelling to Newcastle.

Yet it was the Jets who were made to look vulnerable as the defence was easily taken apart. Conceding an extra eight shots for the game, the defence did no favours to ensure the Jets got a result and will look to bounce back next week.
