For the second match day in a row there were just two draws from the ten games, with both of those matches being score draws.

There was a total of 25 goals from the ten games that were played. If it didn’t feel like the Premier League title race was over already, it definitely does now with Liverpool taking a 13-point lead with one game in hand.

For the third match day in a row there were three games that stood out – three clashes that may well pay a key role in determining who finishes in the top four in the Premier League.

Arsenal 1, Chelsea 2

Lampard shows courage in Chelsea’s victory

Facts and figures
Chelsea controlled the balance of play as they finished the game with 57.9 per cent of possession and four shots on target to Arsenal’s two. Chelsea finished the game with 13 shots to Arsenal’s seven, which indicated that Chelsea had more attacking intent or were simply a more talented team of players.

Points of difference
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard was possibly the difference between the two teams. Lampard courageously substituted Emerson off in the first half and brought on Jorginho. Jorginho scored the equalising goal in the 83rd minute. Some people may argue that he should have received a second yellow card prior to that and subsequently been sent off, but I can only report on the facts. Chelsea continued to attack and consequently scored what proved to be the winning goal thanks to Tammy Abraham in the 87th minute.

Who made their team better?
The obvious one is Jorginho, despite the fact he could have been sent off, as he managed to score the equalising goal. Tammy Abraham also scored what proved to be the winning goal.

Trials and tribulations
Chelsea managed to claim all three points, despite the fact that they trailed with seven minutes of normal time remaining in the game. Bernd Leno should have saved both goals that Chelsea scored. Frank Lampard took a risk making a substitution in the first half and the gamble paid off.

Liverpool 1, Wolverhampton Wanderers 0

The title race is all but over

Facts and figures
Liverpool may have controlled possession with 62.8 per cent of it, but both teams finished the game with ten shots each.

Points of difference
It was a tough win for Liverpool as VAR played a part in them claiming all three points. Wolverhampton Wanderers should never have conceded the opening goal and should have been allowed an equalising goal anyway.

Who made their team better?
Sadio Mane scored the only goal of the game.

Trials and tribulations
VAR played a key role in determining the result of the game.

Points of difference
It appeared as if Manchester City were better prepared than Sheffield United – at least that’s what the statistics indicated.

Who made their team better?
Kevin De Bruyne was a standout. The Belgian finished the game with an assist and a goal.

Trials and tribulations
Sheffield United hit the post late on, which was indicative of how the game went for them. They were also denied a goal earlier in the game, which was deemed by the VAR to be offside by the smallest of margins.
