The South Sydney Rabbitohs were the victims of refereeing error in Round 2, costing them the win.
The Rabbits ended up going down to the Broncos by four after a fumble from Kotoni Staggs was incorrectly awarded a try.
In his Round 1 football briefing on Monday, the NRL’s Head of Football Elite Competitions Graham Annesley walked the assembled media through the weekend’s footballing issues.
The on-field referee did not refer it to the Bunker and the Rabbitohs did not request a captain’s challenge. Televised highlights didn’t show the error either.

Jamayne Isaako converted the incorrectly awarded try and the Broncos won by six.
With everything else going on in the world of sport, a refereeing error that cost a side a game may seem inconsequential. And it probably is. And referees are human, too.
But if the Rabbitohs miss the top eight by two points, remember this moment.
