What a Doncaster! Nettoyer, wow. If races are now won on diets of pizza and beer, I’m a chance to beat Usain Bolt.

With that out of the way, I’ve added a sparring partner this week with Chimney (also known as the hedger from Helsinki) joining the conversation. He’s normally around the mark even though he’s likely to disagree with me. We’ll test him out and if he’s any good we’ll see if we can keep him.

Dixie’s 2020 tally
Units bet: 118
Units won: 113.10
Based on one unit being equal to $1 win bet, NSW dividends (see comments for any changes based on scratchings or track condition).

No bets in the two-year-old stuff (Races 1 and 4).

Race 2
Dixie says: Not overly keen here. Hilo has come back well and is ready now for 1400, no huge push but will give it a go. Yao Dash was close to Bivouac last prep but pays for it with 59 kilograms. Spend is the boom horse. Mirra Vision is three from four.
Dixie selection: #2 Hilo (one unit).

Chimney says: Ummm, why are we starting at Race 2? Well, while you’re asleep at the wheel discriminating against two-year-old races, I’ve cashed in on Postcode in the first. Lead, kick, win. Meanwhile, back at Race 2 I have to lean Yao Dash’s way. Beat Funstar last prep and then beaten a length in a red-hot Golden Rose. That is A+ form for this. Was plain first up but at $4.50 I’ll play.
Chimney selection: #1 Yao Dash (one unit).

Race 3
Dixie: Agree with the market here, Asharani and Electric Girl look the best of a big bunch here, taking the filly. Electric Girl will be closer in a race where I don’t see much speed, the others will be chasing hard. Her good 1400 record seals the deal.
Dixie selection: #12 Electric Girl (one unit).

Chimney: Agree with your assessment here. Electric Girl the map horse and Asharani a danger. The only other live chance is Animate who is on an upward spiral but would need luck. Saving my units though, no bet from me.

Race 5
Dixie: Chimney will have a field day with this one. I’m giving Anaheed one last chance. Was great winning fresh. Yes, the efforts since were flat, but they were big Group 1 sprints against older horses. Back to Randwick (three from five). Back to 1200 (three from six). Back to her own age group. I’m sticking with her. Cosmic Force can prove himself here, Splintex is a silly price, and California Zimbol might be a good one.
Dixie selection: #10 Anaheed (one unit).

Chimney: Cosmic Force can prove himself here? If you had replaced the word can with will, then you would have been on the money. Went like a rocket late first up giving Villami a tonne of weight. Went out favourite in a hot Group 1 Galaxy and a forgive. Back to the trials with the winkers on and wow. Set weights here back to his own age, plenty of pace on mapping for a nice trail. Bet of the day. Agree that Splintex is a silly price.
Chimney selection: #1 Cosmic Force (three units).

Race 6
Dixie: Colette won well last week taking an initial step up in grade. I’m taking her here on the basis that she loooks most likely to run a good 2400. Probabeel is the star, I’ll risk her at the trip, while I’ll back Colette to have a class edge on Shout the Bar and the others.
Dixie selection: #4 Colette (two units).

Chimney: Huge respect for Colette but playing the class (and price) here with Probabeel at the $4. Toffee Tongue is the knock-out hope at $14. Lock in the trifecta.
Chimney selection: #1 Probabeel (one unit).

Race 7
Dixie: Geez, where do we look here? One place I won’t be going is Yogi (apologies for that). Raheen House finally stood up last week, even though he didn’t beat much, I like the quick back-up and think that if he was brought here to compete in a Melbourne Cup, he should be beating these. Young Rascal was great kicking off his Australian campaign and could blitz them if the trip suits. Azuro is in the quaddie as the blowout.
Dixie selection: #4 Raheen House (one unit).

Chimney: Only two winning hopes, and Raheen House is not one of them. Provided Young Rascal and Mustajeer don’t get blocked behind plodders I’m convinced one of them wins. Take them both and stand in the queue. Okay, okay, I’ll play nice and throw yours in the quaddie and exotics.
Chimney selections: #1 Mustajeer (one unit) and #2 Young Rascal (one unit).

Race 8
Dixie: Now we’re talking, what a ripping Queen Elizabeth! I’m staying local with Verry Elleegant. Blew them apart last start and can turn the tables on earlier misses against Addeybb (away from leader bias at Rosehill) and Te Akau Shark (2000 versus 1600). Danon Premium is the unknown, I’ll stick solid for the moment with the give in the track but if there’s a push for him I won’t be missing out.
Dixie selection: #12 Verry Elleegant (two units).

Chimney: $4 for Danon Premium. Really? Yes please. World-class form (including rolling the dominant Cox Plate winner last year) and mighty hard to beat. Complete unknown on a soft track but they are giving you a more than fair price to find out. Can’t wait to see Master of Wine at this level. Team Hawkes could have taken other paths and he would have won a couple of Group 1 and 2 races on his ear but instead they have thrown him in to the toughest race possible. No way he wins under my guard. I won’t try and talk you out of Verry Elleegant. She is low-flying. Can definitely make a case for her and also Melody Belle on a Doncaster back-up. Great race.
Chimney selection: #1 Danon Premium (one unit).

Horse racing generic 1

Race 9
Dixie: I’ve rated the bookends to sort this one out, I’ll take Alizee at the price. She hasn’t been at her best in her last two but back at Randwick against her own sex, she’s a great price. Funstar is a deserved favourite, she’s the big danger, hoping they burn up in front. Con Te Partito’s Coolmore win was excellent, Unforgotten is a chance as well. Nettoyer? Wouldn’t surprise, what an animal! Not for me at the weights this week.
Dixie selection: #1 Alizee (one unit).

Chimney: On a religious weekend, you are demonstrating admirable forgiveness with Alizee. I’ll happily pray for her but I just can’t get excited about her. I was keen on Amingiri first up and she ran a bottler sticking on behind the race fit Positive Peace. Strips fitter here and the value bet of the day at $17. Petrified of Funstar but just baulking at the current price. If she drifts to $3.30 or better I will be playing.
Chimney selection: #13 Amangiri (one unit).

Race 10
Dixie: Good little race to finish. Fair few of those rate together. I’m taking Soothing. Did well from the back fresh last time. Some of her runs against boys last prep are good enough for here. Twelve-hundred is the risk. Trusting the Godolphin team to make the right move.
Dixie selection: #12 Soothing (one unit).

Chimney: Soothing does mix her form but I concede she is a knock-out chance at odds. Keen on a Chimney favourite here to round out the day. Fasika was easy money for us first-up and then enormous in the Galaxy finishing across the line with Pierata in the worst part of the track. With a good draw I would have declared her.
Chimney selection: #7 Fasika (one unit).

Hope everyone enjoys the different format and another boom race day. Thanks as always for comments, please send through you best of the day and blowout.
