After just one season in the NFL system, the Arizona Cardinals’ Kyler Murray has already joined the record books.

He became the second rookie to throw more than 3500 yards and run more than 500 yards. His final numbers were 3722 yards, 20 touchdown passes and a completion rate of 63.4 per cent.

“The things he did as a rookie quarterback are up there with some of the top rookies to ever do it at that position,” coach Kliff Kingsbury said.

He became the first rookie to start the season opener in the Arizona Cardinals’ history book since 1954. He set a franchise rookie record for wins by a quarterback, passing yards, touchdown passes, completions, attempts and games with multiple touchdown passes.

His 211 consecutive pass attempts without interception set a new NFL rookie record. He joined Cameron Newton as the only two quarterbacks in NFL history to throw more than 300 yards in their first two career games.

Of course, there are always areas to improve. Throwing 12 interceptions in the back half of the final month, he’ll want to switch up play in his second season as QB.

The more games he gets under his belt at the NFL level, he’ll continue to grow as a quarterback and will find more opportunities when going forward.

I rank his rookie season an eight out of ten. This is an outstanding year for a first-year rookie QB.

The Cardinals have a lot of improvement to be done in the off-season but with Murray firing as their QB, they are the team to watch for the next few years.
