The Gold Coast Suns finished the 2019 AFL season on the bottom of the ladder.

Selecting the ten players that they could least afford to lose was still a challenging exercise as they have some good ones. I haven’t included first-year players as it was too difficult to judge them on one game.

10. Darcy Macpherson
Macpherson played every game last season and averaged 18.64 disposals per game. He finished the 2019 AFL season third in the Gold Coast Suns’ best and fairest.

9. Brayden Fiorini
Fiorini finished fifth in the 2019 Gold Coast Suns’ best and fairest. Fiorini played a total of 21 games with an average of 25.43 disposals per game. He is a part of the Suns’ leadership group for season 2020.

8. Anthony Miles
Miles finished seventh in the 2019 Gold Coast Suns’ best and fairest, averaging 21.41 disposals in 17 games, which clearly indicates his importance to the team.

7. Sam Collins
Collins was added to the Gold Coast Suns’ leadership group because he is a quality defender and a key player.

6. Lachie Weller
Weller averaged 22.06 disposals in 2019 in the 17 games that he played and he has a lot of ability.

5. Hugh Greenwood
Greenwood played well for the Gold Coast Suns in Round 1 of 2020 against the Port Adelaide Power.

4. Jarrod Harbrow
Harbrow provides plenty of run out of defence. Harbrow finished the 2019 season fourth in the Gold Coast Suns’ best and fairest. Harbrow averaged 18.9 disposals per game in 2019.

3. Jarrod Witts
Witts is the number one ruckman for the Gold Coast Suns. Witts won the 2019 Gold Coast Suns’ best and fairest. He is an underrated player because of the Suns’ lowly ladder position in 2019.

2. David Swallow
Swallow finished second in the Gold Coast Suns’ best and fairest in 2019. Swallow leads from the front; he is a quality player that leads by example.

1. Brandon Ellis
Ellis won a premiership with the Richmond Tigers in season 2019. He has a long-term contract, five years to be exact, which shows how important he is to the Suns in 2020.
