Well, it took until the (lucky) last, but we got there.
Wild About Her wins the bob and everything is okay again. I completely understand if you’d dropped off by then, I would have myself if I wasn’t on already, patience (and forgiveness) pays off, I guess. I’m still down for the year but clawing back, if only Miss Leonidas had won the Galaxy!
This Saturday we’re back on the main Randwick track for the relocated Gosford Cup meeting, with some interesting races. Hopefully it all ends well again.
Best bets
Race 4: 10 Miss Einstein – nicely placed and should improve second-up.
Race 9: 4 Rapido Chaparrro – likely leader who will be heard to get past with the weight drop.

Race 1 – 15 Tejori (one unit)
The Highway kicks things off this Saturday and Tejori could be a bit better than these. She’s won two of her three starts by a combined total of almost eight lengths, with her only miss being on heavy ground in town when wide. A few people agree – she’s been backed from $6 into $4.20 as of Friday afternoon.
Race 3 – 6 Adelong (one unit)
Will stick with the shorties for now. Adelong grabs a nice weight swing after just going down to Lesage last time. They can control the speed and fight it out. Lashes is right in it but has drawn poorly, if she tucks in just off them she’s a big hope. There are worse options that Our Rosemaree at $71 – has no weight on her back and will be in any exotics.
Race 4 – 10 Miss Einstein (two units)
Happy to be with Miss Einstein in a nice little race. She was good from way back first up and dominated on wet and dry last campaign. The rest? Opacity is probably better over a bit more ground but has three wins from four starts and shows promise. No knock on the favourite Subpoenaed, the Rubisaki form is A-1.
Race 5 – 8 Misteed (one unit)
Found this race very, very hard to gauge. Misteed was the top-rater but will get back with little speed and is on the duck on dry tracks. I’m leaving out Masked Crusader – he seems promising but at $1.80 against older horses and coming from Wednesday racing at Bendigo? Not for me. Super Star Bob and Sedition are my other speculators.
Race 6 – 11 Loveseat (one unit)
Taking Loveseat – was very good at Canterbury, gets a nice weight drop and the extra trip is perfect. Bottega is beautifully placed in this. Back from 2000 metres a slight knock and I’m wondering if he’s peaked this campaign. Word for Word and Loves to Rock are my other two.
Race 7 – 15 Shadow Flight (one unit)
Party time here. I’m taking Shadow Flight at a big price to win the Gosford Cup. There’s some method to the madness. He’s back on his preferred dry surface, he’s in at 54 kilos and his run in the Selwood was good. If I have him then Aliferous isn’t far behind. Costello is in the mix as well and then we go back to Best of Days. I’m leaving out Ilwendo at this stage. His Brisbane form is good though, consider me intrigued.

Race 8 – 6 All Too Hard (one unit)
One more chance for All Too Hard. I just can’t look past the Anaheed and Pippie form. I’m liking the step up to 1200 (four from six) and will forgive his ordinary run fresh – blame the bad barrier! Signore Fox rates highly at a good price, Greyworm will give them something to chase and if Deprive finds his best he’s right up there.
Race 9 – 4 Rapido Chaparrro (two units)
I’ll finish up with the mighty Rapido Chaparro – gets out to a nice distance and the hard track is a plus. Has a wide draw but should get across and lead. I had Costello (now in Race 7) rated highly, which is a tick for Rapido. I see White Boots and Grand Piano as the dangers.
