The Greater Western Sydney Giants made the 2019 AFL grand final, but were unfortunately smashed by the Richmond Tigers.

If Round 1 of 2020 is any indication, they will bounce back and use the loss as motivation as they had an impressive win over the Geelong Cats.

It was a fascinating and enjoyable task to select the ten players that they could least afford to lose in season 2020.

10. Stephen Coniglio
He is the solitary captain of the Greater Western Sydney Giants for season 2020. He has plenty of ability, but plays in the midfield where the Giants have plenty of quality players. In 2019 he played just 15 games, averaging 26.6 disposals per game.

9. Zac Williams
He is a pivotal part of the Greater Western Sydney Giants team, playing on a halfback flank predominantly. Williams finished fifth in the 2019 Greater Western Sydney Giants best-and-fairest.

8. Phil Davis
He is an important part of the Greater Western Sydney Giants’ defence as he has the ability to play as a key defender on the opposition’s best forward. The Giants don’t have much depth in this department.

7. Josh Kelly
He averaged the most disposals of any Greater Western Sydney Giants player in 2019 with an average of 28.11 disposals per game in the 18 games that he was involved in. Kelly has the capability to be known as an elite player of the competition. He also possesses leadership qualities as he is a part of the Giants’ leadership group for season 2020.

6. Jacob Hopper
He finished third in the 2019 Greater Western Sydney Giants best-and-fairest. Hopper was a pivotal part of the Giants claiming a win over the Geelong Cats in Round 1 of season 2020, amassing the most disposals of any Giants player.

5. Lachie Whitfield
He is a quality player that can play on a halfback flank or on a wing. Whitfield averaged an impressive 27.05 disposals a game in 2019. He will be an important part of the Greater Western Sydney Giants team in season 2020. He is a part of the Giants’ leadership group for season 2020.

4. Toby Greene
He finished eighth in the 2019 Greater Western Sydney best-and-fairest, but Greene is a match-winner. He kicked four goals in the opening game of season 2020. He was instrumental in the Giants having a reasonably comfortable win over the Geelong Cats. He is a part of the Giants’ leadership group for season 2020.

3. Tim Taranto
He won the 2019 Greater Western Sydney best-and-fairest. Taranto played all 26 games for the Giants with an average of 27.69 disposals per game. Unfortunately, he missed Round 1 of season 2020 due to a shoulder injury, but he could still play a key role in the Giants’ push for the ultimate success in season 2020 with a return to football a chance of occurring in July.

2. Nick Haynes
He was a part of the 2019 AFL All Australian 40-player squad. Haynes is a mobile defender that has the ability to create run out of defence. He finished fourth in the Greater Western Sydney Giants 2019 best-and-fairest.

1. Jeremy Cameron
He won the 2019 AFL Coleman Medal and finished second in the Greater Western Sydney Giants best-and-fairest in the same season. Cameron would be a massive loss as he is one of the best key forwards in the game. Some might say he is even the best. He was selected at centre half forward in the 2019 AFL All Australian team. He has been included in the Giants’ leadership group for season 2020.
