If you could choose one player from any other team the AFL for season 2020, who would it be?

Bearing in mind only one player from each of the 18 clubs can be used in this hypothetical exercise.

No one’s perfect. There isn’t a club in the AFL that doesn’t have a flaw.

The Adelaide Crows need a forward pocket that has the capability to kick goals. Jordan de Goey from the Collingwood Magpies would be the perfect solution to the Crows.

The Brisbane Lions require a centre halfback and Jeremy McGovern from the West Coast Eagles is the best in the business. McGovern would be perfect to strengthen the Brisbane Lions’ defence.

The Carlton Blues are in need of a quality ruckman and Scott Lycett from the Port Adelaide Power is that player. They can’t rely on Levi Casboult shouldering all of the ruck work.

The Collingwood Magpies need a key forward and Eric Hipwood of the Brisbane Lions is that player missing from the jigsaw puzzle that is the Magpies’ best 22.

The Essendon Bombers would benefit from another tall forward as it appears that Joe Daniher will be unavailable for a while. If Tim Membrey of the St Kilda Saints averaged two goals per game in the 2019 season, then what could he do playing for a team that finished in the top eight in 2019 in the Bombers.

The Fremantle Dockers are lacking a match-winner. Nat Fyfe and Michael Walters need help and they could also do with a big name. That is Dustin Martin of the Richmond Tigers. Martin could play predominantly up forward and occasionally help Fyfe out in the midfield.

The Geelong Cats need a player in the prime of their career and a midfielder. Marcus Bontempelli from the Western Bulldogs will be the perfect fit. Bontempelli would bring leadership along with being a quality player. He would be an ideal recruit for the Cats.

The Gold Coast Suns have Brandon Ellis playing on the wing, but they need a quality player to play on the other wing. Mitch Duncan is the player that the Suns need as he is one of the Geelong Cats’ most important players.

The Greater Western Sydney Giants are in need of a fullback and Robbie Tarrant of the North Melbourne Kangaroos would be a player that could play that role.

The Hawthorn Hawks are in need of a fullback and Daniel Talia of the Adelaide Crows would help boost the Hawks’ defence and be an important part of their back six.

The Melbourne Demons need a player that can kick goals and more specifically a forward pocket and Tom Papley of the Sydney Swans is that player.

The North Melbourne Kangaroos need a player that’s an attacking defender and that player is James Sicily from Hawthorn.

The Port Adelaide Power could use someone that provides run out of defence and Michael Hibberd of the Melbourne Demons could play that role very effectively.

The Richmond Tigers need someone who can play on the wing as well as the capability to play on the halfback flank and that player is Lachie Whitifield from the Greater Western Sydney Giants.

The St Kilda Saints could use a fullback and a player that would help their back six look more formidable. The ideal player to play that role is Michael Hurley from the Essendon Bombers.

The Sydney Swans need a ruckman and the perfect player for them to recruit would be Jarrod Witts of the Gold Coast Suns.

The West Coast Eagles need someone on the half forward flank and that player is Michael Walters from the Fremantle Dockers. Walters was selected on the half forward flank in the 2019 AFL All Australian team.

The Western Bulldogs require a mid-sized defender who is a leader and capable of creating run out of defence. The type of player they need to fill that flaw is Sam Docherty of the Carlton Blues.
