For the first time this season all 22 of the players I selected in the predicted team played a match.

And every player made some sort of contribution. Lachie Weller kicked two long goals at the start of the first two quarters. Seb Ross battled manfully to help St Kilda beat Carlton. Lincoln McCarthy kicked a couple of goals for Brisbane. Darcy Tucker kicked two goals for Fremantle.

Those are just a few examples of the contribution that the players selected in the predicted team made.

Five of the 22 players who played polled votes in the coaches votes: Jack Billings, Jarrod Witts, Caleb Daniel, Nick Haynes and Lachie Whitfield.

The challenge of picking the players in this team is an enjoyable one. They could all play well or all play poorly. It’s up in the air. That’s what makes it such an interesting concept. It’s a tough task to narrow the players down to 22 and select them in the given roles that they should probably play.

This team consists of players I predict to be the best performers in the upcoming round. Eight of the 22 players retain their spots from Round 5’s predicted team: Caleb Daniel, Nick Haynes, Lachie Whitfield, Jack Billings, Eric Hipwood, Jacob Townsend, Dean Kent and Darcy Tucker.

Backs

Callum Mills
Mills was one of the better players in Sydney’s Round 5 loss to West Coast. Mills is an important part of the Sydney team. Mills should have a good game in Round 6 against a Richmond team that’s got plenty of injuries.

Daniel Talia
Talia will be given the job of curtailing the influence of Josh Kennedy from West Coast in Round 5. Talia is up for the challenge, though.

Caleb Daniel
Daniel should prove why he could possibly be in the back pocket in the All Australian team for 2020. Daniel retained his spot from the Round 5 predicted team.

Daniel Rich
Rich played a good game for Brisbane against Port Adelaide, amassing 20 disposals in Round 5. Expect Rich to be at his best against Geelong in Round 6.

Nick Haynes
Haynes was superb for the Giants in Round 5 and will prove that his performance wasn’t an aberration in Round 6. Lachie Whitfield was superb for the Giants in their win over Hawthorn in Round 5 and should prove that his display wasn’t an aberration against Port Adelaide in Round 6.

Midfielders

Hugh McCluggage
McCluggage should prove why he is one of the most consistent midfielders in the competition in a big game for Brisbane against Geelong.

Marcus Bontempelli
Bontempelli should prove that his poor performance in Round 5 was an aberration. Expect Bontempelli to go head to head with Patrick Cripps in an intriguing match-up in Round 6.

Lachie Hunter
Hunter should prove why he has the capability of being an elite player of the competition in Round 6 against Carlton.

Jack Billings
He should prove why he is so important to St Kilda when they play Fremantle in Round 6.

Eric Hipwood
He will have a great game against Geelong as it’s difficult to think of a player from Geelong who could curtail his influence.

Patrick Lipinski
He was impressive in Round 5 with 20 disposals. Expect Lipinski to perform well in a game that the Western Bulldogs should win easily.

Jacob Townsend
He kicked a pivotal goal in Round 5 against Collingwood in the last quarter. Expect Townsend to gain plenty of confidence from that goal in Round 6 and put in a good performance against North Melbourne.

Josh Bruce
He will be eager to prove that his six-goal haul in Round 5 wasn’t an aberration when the Western Bulldogs face Carlton.

Dean Kentshould prove why he is a key part of St Kilda’s team in Round 6 against Fremantle.

Tim English
He has been in great form of late. English should continue his quality form against Carlton.

Jarryd Lyons
He should prove why he is possibly the most underrated midfielder in the competition in Round 6 against Geelong.

Jack Macrae
He’s a quality player and will prove why in Round 6.

Interchange

Matt Crouch
Crouch is one of the best players in the Adelaide team and should substantiate why in Round 6 against West Coast.

Nick Coffield
He was outstanding for St Kilda in Round 5 and has the opportunity to prove that display wasn’t an aberration when St Kilda face Fremantle.

Toby McLean
He had his best game of the season in Round 5. Expect McLean to get confidence from that display when the Western Bulldogs face Carlton.

Darcy Tucker
He played well for Fremantle against Adelaide in Round 5. Tucker should bring the same sort of attitude when Fremantle play St Kilda in Round 6.
