After another small win last week, winter racing isn’t that bad after all!

With that in mind, we move to the Randwick inner track this week and are greeted by – guess what – another heavy track.

It’s a strange old meeting. I’m not keen on the first half of the card but have found ten units late in the day, quaddie time.

Dixie’s 2020 tally
Units bet: 237
Units won: 235.70

The stats are based on one unit being equal to a $1 win bet New South Wales dividends. See the comments for any changes based on scratchings or track condition.

Race 5 – 9 Agassi (two units)
Andre has won two in a row in a lower grade, and was particularly impressive last time when up in weight. Up to 1800 metres, down in weight and drawn well, this horse should be in the finish.

Race 6 – 5 Spencer (one unit)
This is an interesting little race. I was liking Man of Peace leading them up, but I’m taking Spencer, who’ll sit just off them and give a sight with the lovely weight drop. Handspun and the top weight rate the next best.

Race 7 – 1 Witherspoon (three units)
What better horse to follow the Witherspoon precedent (leaders skipping away at the Randwick 1000 metres) than Witherspoon herself! She’s been staying and winning at grade 78 level, I love the weight claim with Louise Day riding, and think she can lead them a merry dance again.

Spaceboy has previously followed the Witherspoon theory. I am concerned that they will run each other ragged in front, but then again I think they do it independently of each other. Up 2.5 kilos here is the negative.

Race 8 – 5 Almerheri (one unit)
Little bet on Almeheri. I’m back with the ladies after a good enough run in midweek grade. Strawb is interesting – massive wraps and won well at Newcastle. I’ve tipped most of the others (Threeood and High Low Bet multiple times) before – could break my heart.

Race 9 – 13 Derbari (two units)
Dolan in the last? Derbari rated well right down the bottom with 52 kilos, Le Gai Soleil was around the mark as well but well in the red I’ll leave her be (in the quaddie though). Bring it home Robbie!

Good luck, good punting and stay safe everyone. Fire through your thoughts and best.
