Phil Foden is beginning to show great promise and is developing into a first-team regular.

The Manchester City star man, who is a product of their youth system, is integrating more and more into the team under manager Pep Guardiola after coming into the squad in 2016.

He has featured for England at the under-17 level where he won the World Cup and also the World Cup golden ball award in 2017. He also participated in the UEFA under-17 championship where he finished as a runner-up.

In 2017 he also won the BBC young sport personality of the year award.

However, it wasn’t until 2018 that Foden began to get a strong foot in the door of the Manchester City squad. He made 13 appearances in the 2018-19 season where he came in most times as a substitute.

Due to the amount of quality and experience in the Manchester City midfield, it was good amount of games for an 18-year-old. So far in the 2019-2020 campaign, he has played more often and scored more goals.

He plays with a great amount of freedom and when on the ball, he is unstoppable. His long-range drives and good finishing are part of the top qualities he possesses.

The young Manchester City man has been in fine form since the recommencement of the campaign, notching up four goals in seven games providing a further two assists.

With the next season in sight now, Phil Foden is expected to get more playing time under his belt and he is tipped to be a replacement for the outgoing Spanish star David Silva. Foden will be filling a great role for the Citizens and without a doubt the pressure and weight will come but knowing he’s under as great of a manager as Pep Guardiola and other high-quality talent is all around him, he should conquer.
