After a long hiatus, the NBA is returning on Friday, July 31st. Here is all of the info you need if you wanted to watch NBA live streams or watch games live on TV.

The NBA hasn’t been in play since March 11 when the season was suspended due to COVID-19. Now, five months later, the competition is due to resume from Orlando. The season is returning with a bang, with ten double-headers and four triple-headers in the first fortnight of play.

The 22 teams in the hub will play eight games each before heading through to traditional playoffs and finals series.

How to live stream the NBA online

Fortunately for Australians, there are three options for watching the NBA online.

The most accessible way for many to access NBA games is through using Kayo Sports. The streaming service has secured the availability of at least one NBA game per day for the remainder of the season and the entire finals series but only selected Playoff games.

Kayo also saves you if you’re late to tip-off, with the ability to begin any stream from the start while also hiding any score spoilers. If you entirely miss any clashes, don’t fret: Kayo will also make available on-demand all games they show for 72 hours after their conclusion.

Kayo begins from $25 a month for two streams – or $35 a month if you desire three simultaneous streams. You do get a 14-day free trial if you’re a new Kayo customer.

The NBA also has their own in-house streaming package, NBA League Pass. This package gives you access to all NBA games live, and also the entire season worth of games on demand (with the ability to download for offline viewing). NBA League Pass is the only option to stream the entire playoffs, too. Prices for the NBA League Pass begin from $39.99 a month, or $68.99 for the remainder of the season. Both options with 7-day free trials.

If you want a more Augmented Reality-type experience, you can also catch some matches on the MIA app. You can download this from either the App Store or Google Play, enabling you to watch at least six live games per week. This service does require a separate subscription fee: $6.95 a month with a 14-day free trial.

Finally, you can also use Foxtel Now. This is a streaming version of Foxtel, and to access ESPN you require both the $29/month Sports Pack and the $25/month Essentials Pack. From there, access ESPN through Foxtel Now on all digital devices.

How to live stream the NBA on TV

If you’d prefer to watch NBA games on TV, there are also opportunities to do so. SBS has secured two NBA games per week. These will air on SBS Viceland and will also be streamed online at SBS On Demand . SBS remains free in all variations, but it does come with a catch: no playoffs or NBA finals games will be shown on the free to air network.

If you’re a traditional Foxtel customer, you are also able to stream certain NBA games through that service. You need to ensure you have the Sports Package ($25 a month) paired with Foxtel’s $49 a month base pack. From there, you can access a limited selection of games through ESPN.

Helpfully, you can find a schedule of all NBA games and where they’re broadcast right here.
