Let us take a look at the Delhi Capitals squad, strengths, weaknesses and their key players.

Squad
Shreyas Iyer, Prithvi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan, Ishant Sharma, Amit Mishra, Avesh Khan, Sandeep Lamichhane, Kagiso Rabada, Keemo Paul, Mohit Sharma, Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, Harshal Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Marcus Stoinis, Rishabh Pant, Alex Carey, Shimron Hetmyer, Tushar Deshpande.

Strengths

Coaching staff
Delhi Capitals have Ricky Ponting as their head coach and the coaching staff of DC is quite strong with the likes of Mohammad Kaif, Samuel Badree and Ryan Harris as assistant coach, spin bowling coach and bowling coach respectively. Using their tactics and strategies, the Capitals can be a force to reckon with this year.

Balance
DC is a side that has the perfect match of both batsmen and bowlers who can perform on the big stage. During the auction, the Capitals sorted out a good team and they have got almost everything covered.

Indian core
The Indian core is quite strong. They have bought both experienced and young talents, which is the best combination. They have this combination for both the batting and bowling units with the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Ishant Sharma, Mohit Sharma, Amit Mishra, Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel.

Spinners
Spinners are not an issue at Delhi’s camp at all. They have got Amit Mishra, Axar Patel and Sandeep Lamichhane to take care of this department and with the newest addition of Ravichandran Ashwin, their spin department has only got stronger. There is a variety of spinning options for them with leg-spin, off-spin, left-arm finger spin and more.

Weakness

Openers
Delhi Capitals have three Indian players for the opening slots with the likes Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw and the newly bought Ajinkya Rahane. Unfortunately though, all three of them have not been in the best of their forms when they last played.

Delhi will have to select two players from these for the opening slots and it will not be an easy decision to make. They can only hope that their openers get back into their prime form and give them blistering starts.

Pacers
Delhi has got some handy Indian pace attack in the form of Ishant Sharma, Avesh Khan, Tushar Deshpande, Mohit Sharma and Harshal Patel but when we look into their foreign pacers, they only have Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje. This is an issue as fast bowlers are very prone to get injured.

Kagiso Rabada will be the one leading the pace attack and if he is not fit Delhi can collapse in the pace department.

Key players
1. Rishabh Pant
2. Shimron Hetmyer
3. Marcus Stoinis
4. Kagiso Rabada
5. Shreyas Iyer
