Melbourne will host a 2022 Bledisloe Cup Test after this year’s match in Victoria was cancelled due to coronavirus.

Australia and New Zealand were due to clash at Marvel Stadium on 8 August in the opening match of the Rugby Championship, which doubled as a Bledisloe Cup series Test.

The match was locked in as a double-header with the Wallaroos until the pandemic took hold.

Rugby Australia on Monday confirmed the Melbourne game would now be rescheduled until July 2022, with hopes that this year’s series can be played elsewhere.

Melbourne is also scheduled to host another Test in July 2021.

“The decision to swap the All Blacks Test to 2022 is a sensible one and I thank Premier Daniel Andrews and the Victorian Government for their flexibility and support,” said Rugby Australia interim boss Rob Clarke.

The new location for any 2020 Tests against New Zealand in Australia will be announced in the near future.
