Liverpool have certainly received a lot of praise over for their triumph in both the Premier League and Champions League. They currently are the club to catch and emulate as well.

Most of the ground was laid down when Jurgen Klopp had Zeljko Buvac by his side. However, it was in 2018 that Buvac decided to leave the club. It was thought that there was a falling out between Klopp and Buvac.

In the last 24 hours, there has been a story that has broken out that Buvac did not congratulate the Liverpool manager or players on their Premier League triumph. In fact Buvac has taken a rather large dig against Klopp, his friend and compatriot for over 15 years.

In an interview, the former Liverpool coach Buvac claimed that it was him who was the reason behind Klopp’s success. He claimed this despite not being a part of the clubs backroom staff when they won the Premier League or Champions League.

Buvac and Klopp have been working together since 2001. He was the deputy to Klopp since they both began their managing careers at Mainz. Buvac is currently the sporting director of FC Dynamo Moscow in the Russian League.

It was the Dutchman, Pep Lijnders, who took Buvac’s place in the Liverpool backroom staff. Since then, the rest is history.

A documentary has just been released where Buvac has given an interview as well. It was during this interview that he made the claim that he is the brains behind the operation and behind Klopp’s success.

Here are a few quotes in the YouTube video, which has now been taken off the video channel. “I was happy for the fans, for the players. But I didn’t (congratulate anyone from Liverpool for winning the league).”

“I did the job of a manager for all those 17 years, except speaking in public and giving interviews. Apart from that, I had all the functions and tried to influence my team as much as I could to help them succeed. But I didn’t need that kind of attention.”

“I don’t want to be a manager now. If Barcelona calls me then of course, I’ll think about it but otherwise no. You say I’m here just to stay occupied and wait for a better chance. But if you knew what kind of offers I had rejected during the pause in my career, you wouldn’t have said that.”

Many Liverpool and Klopp fans have been shell-shocked by reading such a claim. However, given the personality of Klopp, we can be rest assured that he will be tight lipped about this.

One thing for sure is that have not been a lot of details published about the falling out between Klopp and Buvac. It is almost impossible to know the whole honest truth.

But when you look at this from whatever information is available, it seems that Buvac has taken an intentional dig at Klopp or has been misquoted. After all, it was only after his departure that Liverpool won the Premier League and Champions League.

So what are all these claims about? Is it a mere cry for attention or something more serious?
