The 2020 AFL grand final between the Richmond Tigers and Geelong Cats is an unmissable event, with the big game to be played outside Melbourne for the first time ever. We’ve got all the information you need to watch the match on TV or live stream from your device, so you don’t miss any of the action from the Gabba.

The Tigers have a chance to stake their claim as one of the best teams of all time with a remarkable third premiership in four years, while the Cats have the sentimental task of trying to farewell one of the greatest players of all time, Gary Ablett, with his own third flag.

Here’s all the information you need to follow the game via live stream, TV, or on radio before the first bounce at 7:30pm (AEDT) this evening.

How to live stream the AFL grand final online
The Seven Network hold exclusive rights to the 2020 AFL grand final. While their pre-match coverage will kick off at 9am (AEDT), much of the day will be devoted to the Cox Plate, before returning to the Gabba at 4:30pm (AEDT).

While their streaming service 7plus will be live streaming the match, there are unfortunately plenty of caveats attached to it. 7 have listed just seven devices as compatible with their live stream: Telstra TV, Samsung Tizen (2016 or later edition), Fetch TV, Apple TV, PlayStation 4, Android/Google TV, and Amazon Fire Stick.

This means their website will not be showing the match, nor will the 7plus iOS or Android apps.

If you want to stream the game, your best bet is the AFL Live Pass. The app is available on iOS and Android devices and is free to stream for certain Telstra customers. For everyone else, you’ll need to pay a subscription fee. You can only sign up for the AFL Live Pass via the app.

The usual Foxtel Go and Kayo streaming services will not be showing the grand final live, though they will both be showing replays in the hours following the final siren.

Kayo subscribers will be able to watch replays of the big game on demand from 10:30pm (AEDT), assuming the match has ended by then.

If you’re overseas and want to watch the game, Watch AFL is your best best. A grand final pass is available for $40 AUD, while they also have season and finals options if you want to lock in all the action for the 2021 season as well.

How to watch the AFL grand final on TV
Channel 7 is your only option to watch the grand final live on TV. Unlike in previous years, their pre-game analysis will be intermittent throughout the day, due to the afternoon’s Cox Plate Day coverage.

Their matchday coverage will kick off at 6:30pm (AEDT) following the nightly news, while you can tune in for the full game in HD from 7:30pm (AEDT), followed by the post-match presentation ceremony.

As always, like with the streaming options, Fox Sports will not be showing the grand final live. However, those with the relevant Foxtel subscription will be able to enjoy all-day coverage exclusively building up to the big game.

How to listen to the AFL grand final on radio
Unable to get to a TV, or just prefer to listen to the big game on radio? You’ve got four stations to choose from: 3AW, ABC Grandstand, Triple M and SEN will all be broadcasting the grand final live, including pre- and post-game coverage.
