The pre-race favourite, Joviality, was stuck in traffic near the barrier down the straight and ended up finishing well off the pace, as jockey Declan Bates rode No Restriction home perfectly. Bates has a ride in the Melbourne Cup on Ashrun, his first appearance in the race that stops the nation.
