There are a couple of strong cards of racing on Friday, with the main focus being at Tabcorp Park Melton.
Down below are the best bets for the respective programs.
Best bet: Race 7 Number 4 President Roydon
The query with President Roydon was whether he would maintain a zest for racing having not raced since 2018, but his resumption at Bendigo suggested that he is well and truly come back as good as ever. He closed off strongly in a fast last half and the depth here is nowhere near as strong. Short, but should be winning.
Next-best: Race 7 Number 1 Guptas Cullen
American Arli is very short for a horse that is first up, so I’m keen to bet each way here with this mare, who can run a fast mile rate from the front and I dare say she’ll hold up and lead. Recent efforts in stronger races have been strong and at double figures, she’ll run a great race for you.
Value: Race 3 Number 6 Manguito
These three-year-old trot races are always buyer beware from a betting perspective, especially this race with not a great deal of exposed form. I’ll go with a first starter at $15+. Son of Great Success that has trialled well enough in readiness for start one and does get Chris Alford, who is a master in general, but especially with these younger trotters.

Best bet: Race 9 Number 4 Colby
$1.80 is rather short for him, but he’s the winner. Hopefully you’ll get $2+ come jump time. Be forgiving of his run last time. He got caught in the breeze and just did too much work when down the track behind a very progressive pacer in Straddie. If he finds the front here, it’s race over.
Next-best: Race 1 Number 1 Rainbow Majestic
A three-year-old taking on the older trotters is never an easy task, but he does look a likely type and being a three-year-old, he will have the front row to himself by 20m and is a safe beginner. Beat up nothing last time but he was dominant and is racing like the 2647m will be no issue. $3.70 is short enough. Suspect he’ll ease.
Value: Race 6 Number 3 Ima Beach Babe
A bit surprised he has come up $5.50. I was hoping for near double figures but the market setters are likely thinking the same as me. Draws well, has two slow beginners draw inside so finds the fence first then gets run of the race no matter what option Shane Graham decides on. His recent efforts have been sound and think he’s an each-way gamble.
