There are two meetings to focus on this Saturday night, with Menagle and Melton hosting quality racing.

Below are the best bets for the respective programs.

Menangle

Best bet: Luke McCarthy three-plus winners
$2 for the champion driver to get three or more winners looks like an absolute steal given three of his drives for the night are going to be around $1.20 or $1.30 in betting and all three should be winning. He has a couple of other strong drives that will be hard in the market so $2 for three or more looks like a great bet.

Next best: Race 2, Number 1, Bracken Knight
He does tend to save his best for Penrith, but he is a horse who is in super form at the moment and has drawn the pole. He will only run well. This horse likely gets the sit behind odds-on pop Aphorism and if he can get the split in the straight, the $6.50 or $7 on offer is going to be tremendous value.

Value: Race 5, Number 2, Manila Playboy
This horse comes to NSW from Queensland with a decent wrap on him and at nearly double figures, he’s worth an each-way ticket. Tasty Delight is the Bathurst Gold Crown winner from last season and is odds on, and understandably so, but Manila Playboy is hard fit and in form. This horse sat in the breeze at Redcliffe last time and spanked them. This is a good test, but he’s more than capable of measuring up.

Melton

Best bet: Race 6, Number 9, Our Uncle Sam
His prep in Victoria has been terrible, with a large amount of bad luck being with him. If things fall into place for him here, the $5 or thereabouts for him is an absolute steal because at his best, he’s a genuine $1.50 chance even allowing for the second-row draw. This horse gets a good trailing draw, has class, and surely he wins with even luck.

Next best: Race 7, Number 10, Majestuoso
This horse is hit and miss, but when he is on, the change-up speed he can produce is the best of any trotter in this part of the world. Things need to fall into place for him. The main thing is stablemate Monaro Maro holding out star Kiwi trotter Majestic Man. If that happens, then Majestuoso can sit back off the speed and his change-up gears will come to the fore.

Value: Race 5, Number 1, Rockabella Starz
This horse has been a grand mare for a number of seasons and has drawn the pole. She’ll run a positive race at odds. This horse ran here last Friday night when having the 1/1 sit and battled away well to run third. She can land leaders back and a 1×3 play at nearly $30 is worth a ticket for sure.
