Two meetings to look at on Thursday, with Redcliffe and Penrith the focus. Down below is best bets for the respective programs.

Redcliffe
Best Bet: Race Six Number 1 Feel The Thrill
Recent form has been patchy but I’m putting that down to drawing wide her past few. Four back he had gate one at this track/distance and was too good in winning, so he gets a near identical set up this time around, should hold a forward spot and take a power of beating from the front.

Next Best: Race One Number 1 Coconut Cutie
Looks a race in two but feel this mare will be better odds and with the inside gate, she’s the one for me in the opener.

Formerly Peter Manning, now finds herself with Ben Aldons and thought a recent trial was a nice piece of work, suggesting she will be hard to beat at her Queensland debut.

Value: Race Eight Number 1 Our Pepperjack
He should land a nice spot from the pole and at big odds, 1×3, he’s worth a speck. Didn’t think he was too bad in defeat here last week from a tricky draw. Should do no work from the pole, likely leaders back, three back at worst, and could sneak a place at a big price in what is a thin race overall.

Penrith
Best Bet: Race Five Number 2 My Carmen
Tends to save her best for Penrith so back here, keen on chances. Brave in defeat last start at Menangle when sitting outside the leader and sticking on very gamely to be beaten six metres. Drawn well, has the gate speed to find the front and back a bit in depth, she’s clearly the one to beat.

Next Best: Race Six Number 10 Bettor Be Lucky
Short but should be winning dropping miles back in grade/depth. Ran last week at Menangle in a strong race and I thought he was far from disgraced in defeat. This is a significant drop back and despite the tricky draw, I think he has a fair bit on these re class and that should be enough.

Value: Race One Number 1 We Meet Again
Think he’s worth something small each way at big odds. First run for the new stable came at Newcastle where he wasn’t too bad in defeat I thought after landing the spot behind the leader. Think that is the spot he’ll land this time around and with the run under the belt, can run a cheeky race at a price.
