There are two meetings to look at this Saturday night, with the main focus being on Mildura, where it is Mildura Cup Night.

Albion Park will also host a strong program. Below are the best bets for the respective programs.

Albion Park

Best bet: Race 4, Number 4, Stinger Lindenny
I am confident he can get back into the winners list. He produced three wins on the bounce before racing here last Saturday. He had a second line draw and in the end that beat him. He just had no luck in the run. He has a front-line gate to use this time around and with gate speed, he should find the front and prove hard to get past.

Next best: Race 10, Number 9, Majestic Simon
He’s just a beauty for Chantal Turpin and he can win. I have been on his back his past couple and he has done the right thing by winning. He has overcome decent handicaps in doing so as well. Fifty metres from the 2138 metres is a tough ask, but as I’ve said previously, if he’s within range 400 metres out, he has the turn of foot to beat them.

Value: Race 1, Number 1, Speedy Dominic
He’s definitely worth an each-way ticket in the opener. He has been kept on the fresh side, having not raced in just over a month. That is since having no luck here when trying to get clear air and the run just not eventuating. He has drawn the pole. He has enough early speed to hold a forward. I just hope the market says he’s fit.

Best bet: Race 1, Number 8, Apieceoflou
I start the program with a good thing in the shape of this three-year-old. He was outstanding when winning his heat of this race on Tuesday night. He made a brilliant run from the back with high speed and was able to maintain that in the run to the line in a massive effort. He just needs normal luck and he’ll be too brilliant for this lot.

Next best: Race 9, Number 9, Jimmy The Irishman
This horse looks destined for better races and with that in mind, he should win this quite comfortably. That is what he did on Tuesday on his Australian debut. He made them look ordinary, and they probably are compared to him. He’s a good thing and an ideal multi anchor for what looks like a tricky night.

Value: Race 8, Number 1, Major Meister
1×3 at big odds, I am backing an upset in the Cup. The drives from some in the heat this guy contested on Tuesday, it is best to let them go through to the keeper. Some of the tactics that were engaged were odd. He was unlucky though. The query is he could get buried on the pegs, but he can be dangerous at a big price.
