Two meetings to look at on Thursday, with Redcliffe and Kilmore getting my attention. Down below are your best bets for the respective programs.

Redcliffe

Best bet: Race Eight Number 1 Fortes In Fide
Keen on this girl from the good gate. Ran last week here and she was enormous in defeat after doing a power of work on speed, just feeling the pinch late, but she was only beaten five metres.

Should be able to hold a forward spot from the pole and from there, she’ll take beating.

Next best: Race One Number 8 Suzukee
Tricky race to start the meeting but I’m confident this three-year-old filly can get the job done.

Had trialled well prior to her debut here, just got into a tricky spot from the draw but liked the way she finished his race off. Has a good trailing draw to use and should be better for the debut effort.

Value: Race Two Number 1 Datsinahurri
This filly can run a decent race here at odds. I’d be forgiving of her last start effort. Just did too much work from the draw, forced to sit parked, and tired late.

I’d love to see Matt Elkins be positive from the draw and should the filly hold a forward spot, she only runs well at a price.

Kilmore

Best bet: Race One Number 2 Balenciago
Market will be the guide to this race with the two big guns in betting first up.

This guy hasn’t raced since January 2019, so over two years off, but he has trialled very well in readiness for his return and if there is a stable that can get them ready for a return off a layoff, it is the Andy Gath camp.

Next best: Race Six Number 8 Parama
Pretty keen on this former Kiwi who did a very good job in his opening Australian prep in Sydney, where he did most of the racing at Menangle.

He has got city class ability and looks to have trialled up really well for his return. If he can get luck from the second row draw, he’s the one to beat.

Value: Race Seven Number 1 Don Abrasco
Bit of a throw at the stumps at odds. He does possess good gate speed so will be interesting to see if he does hold up from the pole or opt for cover.

Has been in races where he has just got a bit too far back from decent draws. Drawn the pole, I’d love to see a positive steer, sit in the first few and from there can run a cheeky race.
