Two meetings to look at on Wednesday night, with my focus being at Bathurst and Redcliffe.

Bathurst

Best bet: Race 5, Number 1, Alta Downs
Clearly the best on the card, he drops back from racing at Menangle to what looks a very winnable race.

He was enormous in defeat in town last time. Just had way too much to do from the wide gate and in the end but he was far from disgraced.

If he holds the lead from the pole, he’ll take beating.

Next best: Race 8, Number 8, Hall Star
On paper, her recent form is ordinary, but she has been racing in much stronger company than this and dropping miles in grade, she’s clearly the one to beat despite an awful draw. Whatever the scenario, she has the best form.

Value: Race 1, Number 1, Come On Sloppy
His recent efforts have been plain, but she has a beautiful trailing draw to use and can run a much-improved race at odds.

She just got too far back last time out here and was beaten comfortably, but has drawn the pole so if she holds leaders back, she can be dangerous at a price.

Redcliffe

Best bet: Race 5, Number 1, Docta Feelgood
Really keen on his chances. Ran a super race last week at Albion Park from the trailing draw, when third to a star in Manila Playboy.

Drawn the pole, he has the gate speed to hold the lead, control the race and with a touch of class, he will prove too good for this lot.

Next best: Race 6, Number 5, Hes Sweet
Has the barrier draw advantage to use so I’m in his corner. Showed gate speed from the wide gate to lead at Albion Park last time and once he found the front, it was pretty much race over. He should find the front once again and prove mighty hard to get past.

Value: Race 9, Number 7, Bold Cowboy
I want to give him another chance at odds. Debuted here where he looked raw and new to the caper, galloping and pacing quite roughly, but he trialled well enough leading into that.

Has a second-row draw to get a soft run in transit and if he does everything right, he’ll be around the mark.
