After watching the South Sydney Rabbitohs getting thumped 50-0 by the Melbourne Storm I have a whole lot of different emotions and opinions that every Bunnies supporter is feeling and thinking after that game.

First of all how good was Josh Addo-Carr scoring six tries and becoming the first player in over 70 years to do it, but also be the first Melbourne Storm player to score five or more tries in a single game? Jahrome Hughes, Cameron Munster, Harry Grant and Brandon Smith were also tearing through the Bunnies and showed that they’re going to try and defend their title as premiers.

South Sydney fans, I know how you all feel because I am also a Bunnies supporter and have been since 2012 but that performance against the Storm was embarrassing and certainly very painful. There is a statistic going around that no team who has conceded 50 points in a game during a season has won the premiership.

The Rabbitohs defence was torn to shreds and it did not matter if it was the left side, the right side or the middle of the field because the Storm cracked Souths everywhere on the park. The Rabbitohs were without superstar fullback Latrell Mitchell, Cameron Murray, Adam Reynolds and Campbell Graham, who really spark South Sydney’s attack but are also great defensive players.

I am in no way defending nor making excuses for the Rabbitohs getting thrashed by the 2020 premiers 50-0 because they showed no signs of being in the contest at all during that game. Dean Hawkins, who played just his second career game for South Sydney, tried his hardest but for no positive outcome.

The Rabbitohs take on the Cronulla Sharks next Saturday and that will be the last game South Sydney will have to play until Latrell Mitchell returns the following Sunday against the Penrith Panthers in Round 11. Adam Reynolds could also be returning from his thumb injury either against the Sharks or the Panthers.

So there is some light at the end of the tunnel for South Sydney but I also have some ideas and changes to the side I would like to see for next week. Dane Gagai needs to return to his centre position on the left side where he has been so lethal. Cody Walker needs to be playing five-eighth and move Alex Johnston to fullback.

The other smaller changes I would like to see is starting Jed Cartwright in that right centre position and possibly having Braidon Burns move to the right wing but the Rabbitohs do have Taane Milne, Tautau Moga and Jaxson Paulo who can play on the wing or centre on that right side.

I am going back to this statistic going around that no team who has conceded 50 points in a singular game during the season has gone on to win the premiership but if any team can do it this year it could be South Sydney, especially with their talented players.
