It is back to Rosehill this week.

A bit of rain around on Friday means I’ve done my numbers expecting a soft six or seven surface. It is an interesting card, with some big fields and distance races to pique the interest. Sold!

Dixie’s 2021 tally
Outlay: 207 units
Return: 340.6 units
Stats are based on one unit being equal to a $1 win bet, New South Wales dividends. See the comments for any changes based on scratchings or track condition.

Sydney racing selections
No bets in Races 1 and 2 this week with the country horses and juveniles.

Race 3 – 2 Mensa Missile (one unit)
Mensa Missile gets some weight relief with Jean’s claim and on his last start win he’s right in this. Kobe Rocks and Born A Warrior were the threats. There’s limited wet form to go by.

Race 4 – 4 Smart Image (one unit)
I have Smart Image on top in a pretty tricky race. He’s suited second-up and will love the give in the track. He’s massive overs at his current price. Epic Dan, Blondeau and Rammstein all rate well.

Race 5 – 7 Turnstyle (two units)
This is an interesting little sprint for the ladies. Turnstyle bolted in last start. She steps up to Saturday grade here but should step up. Expect her to go forward and probably lead. Mirra Vision is the threat. She goes well fresh and is up to this grade. Twice As Special is worth a look at odds.

Race 6 – 5 Le Vizir (one unit)
This is a funny little race for three-year-olds stretching out to 2000 metres. Le Vizir should be up near the lead and is ready for the distance. He gets a nice weight drop into this. My main worry is the NZ horse Daqiannsweet Junior. He’s been running in good races over there and isn’t here for a holiday. Outlook next best.

Race 7 – Knights Order (two units)
Tim Clark and Waterhouse is generally a tick from me and I’m into Knights Order here. He should relish the conditions and will be rated well at the trip from in front. Parry Sound is a big show. I had He Runs Away as the 100/1 blowout. This horse would prefer a dry track but is right down in weight and goes into the quaddie.

Race 8 – 5 Impasse (one unit)
A bit of trust is involved backing Impasse. He was great winning unexpectedly fresh and is better suited second-up and with the apprentice weight claim. Wet form isn’t optimal but he has enough heavy form to suggest he can measure up. The favourite Ellsberg should run well. Jazzland is an interesting runner coming back from a rest at a distance.

Race 9 – 14 So Wicked (one unit)
Jay Ford in the last? Sure! So Wicked pulled up lame last start but can make amends here. He won nicely at Canterbury the start below and is nicely drawn to take it up. Approach Discreet is in the mix and then I have Tooradin and Monsieur Sisu as the next best.

Good luck all. I’m off to Newy for the secondary meet there. Please hit me up with any tips for the day, particularly in Bris Vegas for the big cup meeting.
