The COVID situation in Victoria has forced the Highlanders and Melbourne Rebels match to be moved to Sydney.

New Zealand had closed the travel bubble between their country and Victorian travellers which forced the Melbourne Rebels to head to Sydney as they tried to work on logistics in making it over the ditch.
However, the worsening situation in Melbourne has led to an extension of the travel ban and the Rebels were unable to secure an exemption.

It means Sunday’s match won’t be at Queenstown with the Highlanders agreeing to fly to Sydney to play the Rebels at Leichhardt Oval at 5pm AEST.

“We are pleased to be able to keep the competition going, but are working closely with Sanzaar, Rugby Australia and the Rebels to ensure all measures are in place to keep the Highlanders players, coaches, and management safe,” NZ General Manager of Professional Rugby Chris Lendrum said.

The Rebels players will all be tested for COVID before the match.
