There are two meetings to look at on Wednesday night, with my attention being at Shepparton and Redcliffe.

Below are the best bets for the respective programs.

Shepparton

Best bet: Race 1, Number 1, Im Loki
He has done little wrong since coming over from WA and he can win again. It was a painless watch if you were on him last week at Bendigo. He led throughout from gate two and was miles too good. This is a step up in class for him, but he should lead once again and prove hard to run down.

Next best: Race 4, Number 7, Easy Pickings
This horse is yet to really put a foot wrong since arriving from across the ditch and is in the right camp to keep progressing. It was an ordinary field he beat up last time out at Warragul but it was done with arrogance and dominance. This is harder, but I can only see him going upwards in trajectory.

Value: Race 5, Number 8, Tidal Surge
If the breaks go his way with the tricky barrier, he’ll run a very positive race at a likely decent price. He had the dream run at Echuca last time, getting the box seat sit, and once he got the gap, he sprinted and was too good. He does follow out a fast beginner, so hopefully can land leaders back.

Best bet: Race 3, Number 1, Fire And Ice
I like him a lot here with the pole draw and a drop in class. Forget he went around at Albion Park last time. He just did far too much work to land on speed and by the time that happened, he was a beaten horse and tired. He has drawn the pole, and has the gate speed to lead and give a bold sight.

Next best: Race 8, Number 5, Elle Jay
Peter Greig doesn’t mind racing this guy. He had five runs in May, his latest effort coming here last week. He was near the speed from the good draw throughout and battled on pretty well to run third. It is a tricky draw this time around, but he only has to hold his form to go close.

Value: Race 9, Number 4, Rock With Zara
This is a bludger of a maiden so I’m happy to speck one at a price via this filly. This horse was dragged back from the wide gate last time out at Albion Park and failed to come on. This race is significantly weaker and with luck in running from the gate, she can run a much improved race at odds.
