It’s a familiar story heading into State of Origin Game 1. The New South Wales Blues are favourites over the Queensland Maroons – but can they actually get it done?.

As expected, the NSW Blues are the very warm favourites to take out Game 1, paying $1.50 to get up.
While they are playing in hostile territory, the vastly superior line-up (on paper) has made them the favourites.
The Maroons, who are missing Kalyn Ponga and still have injury clouds over many other key players, are paying $2.66 to cause the upset.
If you really wanna be ‘that guy’ and tip a draw, it’s paying $19.
The line sits at five and a half points ahead of the game, with the Blues paying $1.87 and the Maroons paying $1.97 to cover it.
The main markets for margin betting are the standard options of 1-12 and 13+.
Interestingly, the Blues are paying $2.85 for both options – which probably makes the 1-12 market a bit of a smarter bet.
You’ll get $3.90 back for every dollar bet on a Queensland victory by 1-12, while a 13+ margin in favour of the Maroons is paying a whopping $7.40.
The first try-scorer market has both New South Wales wingers in the lead. Josh Addo-Carr, as always, leads the way at $8.50, while Origin debutant Brian To’o is surprisingly not far behind at $9.
Xavier Coates is the best of the Queenslanders at $11, while James Tedesco ($12) and Tom Trbojevic ($12) round out the top five.
