There are two meetings to look at on Wednesday night, with my focus on Bathurst and Redcliffe.

Bathurst

Best bet – Race 2, No. 2: Single Shot
I’m pretty keen on this three-year-old to bounce back. Be forgiving of his run here last Wednesday. He just had far too much to do from where he was in the run. He gets a significant driver upgrade with Amanda Turnbull taking the steer. I think this gelding will lead and prove hard to run down.

Next best bet – Race 7, No. 3: The Rainbow Beach
His class should see him win here. He ran on Saturday night in the Tatlow at Menangle, and despite being a $101 chance, I thought he was far from disgraced in defeat. He has the gate speed to find the front and should he lead and get control, then it’ll be race over. He’ll prove too good.

Value bet – Race 4, No. 1: Pat McGarry
I think he’s worth an each-way ticket. He hasn’t raced since 5 May, when finishing off strongly from off the speed at Bathurst. His recent runs haven’t seen him draw well, but that all changes here. If he can hold a forward spot, I think he’ll take a beating at hopefully a decent price.

Best bet – Race 4, No. 1: Which Hunt
Getting back to Redcliffe and a step back a bit in depth should see a return to the winners list for Which Hunt. Her last few runs at Albion Park have been in much stronger races than this, and for the most part she has been far from disgraced. I think she will hold the lead from the pole and from there can dominate proceedings.

Next best bet – Race 1, No. 1: Fire And Ice
This will be a very winnable race if he produces anything near his best. It’s been a little while since he has done that, but he does have Barrier 1, and with good gate speed he should hold the lead, which is certainly no disadvantage at Redcliffe. I’m banking on him getting a good set-up in front and proving hard to get past.

Value bet – Race 3, No. 1: Heavens Hint
Something very small each way. She was too bad to be true when resuming here, tiring late and finishing tailed off, with clearly something amiss. She was ordered to trial, and the trial wasn’t too bad, with her running fourth. She has a good trailing draw to use and at big odds, so she could sneak a place.
