Two meetings to look at on Wednesday night, with my attention being at Bathurst and Redcliffe. Down below is best bets for the respective programs.

Bathurst

Best bet: Race 2, Number 7, Awholelotpfpretty

Has done a good job since joining Amanda Turnbull and despite a tricky draw, I think she’s the most progressive of this lot and can get the job done. Strong win at Cowra on Sunday when getting a suck run behind the speed and finishing best. If she gets luck from the gate, I think she’s clearly the one to beat.

Next best: Race 1, Number 2, Infinity Beach

Little while between wins but I think he can bounce back here. Ran at Cowra on Sunday and had little luck in the run on the tight track. Should have won with clear air, but it didn’t eventuate. Has gate speed, and drawn the front line, should be in front and proving hard to get past.

Value: Race 4, Number 1, Bill Shannon

Consistent type that is honest and each way, don’t think you can go wrong backing this guy. He hasn’t really had much luck with gates in recent runs but despite that, his last few runs have been full of merit. Now drawn the pole, if he can hold a forward spot, I think he only runs well at odds.

Redcliffe

Best bet: Race 5, Number 5, Themidnightrambler

Looks a race in two, but this a tough nut who can do work in the run and still be effective at the end. Has been quite impressive in winning his last three, admittedly from the front. Likely has to sit parked this time around, but confident he’s going well enough to do that and still win.

Next best: Race 2, Number 1, Machin Out

This guy does his best racing when on speed and from the pole, at Redcliffe, that should eventuate here. His form recently has been mixed, but he has been racing in races much stronger than this. Should have little trouble holding the lead from gate one and is the one to beat.

Value: Race 3, Number 7, Betting Baron

He’s flying this time in and at double figures, happy to back him each way. Put together three wins on the bounce back here a little while ago. The few runs since have been more than sound, including here last Wednesday. Has the trailing draw to get a suck run behind the speed and get every chance.
