Two meetings to look at on Wednesday night, with Bathurst and Redcliffe getting my attention.

Bathurst

Best bet: Race 9, Number 3: Bonnie Grove
She was plain last time out, but with her best, she’s better than these. Last time out came here last Wednesday when dragged back from a wide gate and didn’t fire a shot at all. Form prior was sound and drawn much better, she can settle much closer in the run and prove hard to beat.

Next best: Race 5, Number 8: Wattlebank Lass
Drawn outside the front row fresh isn’t an easy assignment, but she has a bit of class on her side and that may well get her home and overcome the barrier. Has looked strong in a couple of trials at the track to get ready for her return and just needs luck from the gate to look the winner.

Value: Race 3, Number 1: Toro Delago
Can make a case for this guy at a price, it just depends on what pressure he cops because with the gate speed he has, he should lead and lead comfortably from the pole. Attempted to lead throughout here last time out and battled on okay to run fourth. If he leads and gets control, he’ll take running down at odds.

Redcliffe

Best bet: Race 3, Number 5: Snoop Stride
He’s ten years of age, but he is flying this guy, winning two on the bounce, both coming here and each time he has been impressive. Latest win came over the 2040m trip where he sat outside the speed, putting that horse away and drawing clear. Back to the shorter trip no issue and he showed last time he can work and still be effective at the end.

Next best: Race 5, Number 5: Brian Christopher
With the gate, he can make it three on the bounce. Progressive three-year-old that has done a really good job since crossing the Tasman, winning his past two at this track and each time he has been impressive from near the speed. Should find the front and prove hard to get past.

Value: Race 6, Number 7: Thankheavnforgirls
1×3 speck with this mare at a price. Ran here last Thursday and she was pretty plain after receiving the box seat sit behind the leader. She didn’t fire at all, which was disappointing given her prior form suggested a win was near. She’ll likely get a similar run this time around so giving her another chance.
