Queensland avoided a clean sweep in State of Origin but after a dominant first two games the Wally Lewis Medal for man of the series has gone to New South Wales player Tom Trbojevic.

Trbojevic scored four tries over the three games including a hat-trick in game 2 and proved to be difficult to stop whenever he had the ball.

He also had three linebreaks made 513 run metres, 18 tackle breaks, and one try assist.

It was perhaps a bittersweet award for Trbojevic who would have loved to have completed a rare whitewash with the Blues.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to the state government for doing what it took to get this game going,” he said when he received the award.

“To Queensland, you were too good tonight. And to our boys, it’s been an absolute pleasure doing this with you.”

Meanwhile, Ben Hunt picked up man of the match in Game 3 after scoring two crucial tries early in the second half. It was a huge night for Hunt who was dropped from the Queensland side last year.
