Two meetings to look at on Friday, with Tabcorp Park Melton and Albion Park getting my attention. Down below are your best bets for the respective programs.

Tabcorp Park Melton

Best bet: Race Seven Number 4 Balenciago
Pretty keen on this lightly raced gelding. He does tend to race best when leading and the two wins from his last three outings have come when he has led, the latest seeing him bolt up at Ballarat.

Good test for him here, but he should find the front and prove hard to run down.

Next-best: Race Four Number 1 Elegant Jet
The start will be crucial because there is speed drawn outside but should she be able to hold the front, she’s the one to beat.

This mare bolted up at Terang two back before going to Ballarat where she was a narrow second. Should she hold up, she’ll take catching for sure.

Value: Race Five Number 1 Really Campbell
He’ll be crossed at the start. It will just depend if he can get the spot behind the leader.

If so, he comes right into the mix as a winning threat at odds. His two runs back from a break have been solid, placing each time, the latest being a second here last Friday night. Can settle much closer in the run and has upside.

Albion Park

Best bet: Race Nine Number 3 Flashy Seb
These two-year-old trot races are fraught with danger because more than half of the field will likely gallop at some stage. This guy has the Rickie Alchin polish and he was good on debut here just under a month ago.

Did break in the run but gathered himself and stuck on well to run second. He’ll improve for the run and I’d much rather take $4-plus for him than $1.30 or thereabouts for stablemate King City, who was in a pig of a mood in the same race.

Next-best: Race Three Number 1 Always Bopping
A NSW visitor that looks very well placed for Bernie Hewitt. Recent runs have come at Bathurst, the latest run seeing him run third, beaten as an odds on pop.

Should receive every chance from the pole, and has shown gate speed, so he should hold a forward spot and prove hard to beat.

Value: Race Four Number 8 Delightful Reason
This filly follows out a fast beginner so if she can hold leaders back, she’ll be tough to hold out late.

Far from disgraced at Group 2 level at Redcliffe last time out in what was a fast race. Saves her best for Albion Park and should things fall into place, she’ll look the winner at some stage.
