Fiji – the reigning men’s Rugby 7s gold medallists – outclassed Australia 19-0 to knock the Aussies out at the quarterfinal stage.
Fiji, playing without NRL star Semi Radradra, still had enough, and were helped by a bad blunder from Lachie Anderson who spilled the ball over the line after being set up by Maurice Longbottom.
They were 7-0 down at the time and Fiji were clinical in shutting out the game in the second half, scoring two tries in quick succession to end Australia’s tournament.

Australia only made it into the quarters on points differential after losing to Argentina and New Zealand.
While Australia’s loss was expected, Argentina made the semis with a stunning win over South Africa.
Argentina played most of the match with six players, after Gaston Revol was red carded in the third minute.
Argentina held on for a famous 19-14 victory despite being reduced to five players by a late yellow card.
