Two meetings to look at on Thursday, with my attention at Albion Park and Penrith. Down below are your best bets for the respective programs.
Best bet: Race Eight Number 2 Skippys Delight
Gets a perfect chance to get a win in this Queensland stint for Rickie Alchin. Hasn’t won a race since arriving from New Zealand but is bursting to win one, having been close up on a number of occasions.
Draws to lead this field up and he’ll prove too good.
Next-best: Race One Number 1 Doolittle Dexter
Looks a race in two, but I’m going with this guy, who has the run under the belt over the first starter, who has trialled well leading in, but this guy did trial well prior to his resumption at Redcliffe where he just looked in need of the run.
He can use gate one to advantage and prove hard to beat.
Value: Race Five Number 1 Just One Good One
Was on him 1×3 last Thursday at Redcliffe and he did the right thing in running third.
He had the suck run behind the speed and battled on well. Gets a similar set up this time around and does have a solid enough record at the track, so 1×3 again looks the option.
Best bet: Race Eight Number 3 Sugar For My Honey
Both runs have come at Menangle so dropping a back bit in grade and depth, he should take a power of beating.
Was good in defeat at Menangle last time out when fourth to a smart one in Smaltese. Has the gate speed to find the front and from there, he can dominate proceedings.
Next-best: Race Four Number 2 Marika Springfield
Market watch for sure with this guy, given he is having his first run for Jack Trainor and we know the record has with these cast-offs.
They go from being average to metro class, so with the new camp, it’ll be interesting to see where he lands from the gate, but I’ll bank on the stable getting him right.
Value: Race One Number 1 Ed Mendes
Happy to back this three-year-old 1×3 at double figures. He ran here last Thursday and did a really good job from off the speed to finish second.
If he can use gate one to advantage, he likely lands leaders back and from there, he can be quite dangerous at a good price.
