Two meetings to look at on Friday, with Albion Park and Mildura getting my focus. Down below are the best bets for the respective programs.

Albion Park
Best Bet: Race Nine Number 2 You No Ill Be Late

2YO trot races can be fraught with danger, but gee it was a slick debut from this colt back in late June. Near faultless display from the outset and he spanked his rivals. I just think he has to produce something similar and he’ll be beating up this lot as well.

Next Best: Race One Number 9 Game Set Major
Looks to be a stack of gate speed on the front line, so looking for something to sit off that and be strong late, which this guy will be. Has had two runs back from a spell and has got better with each outing, the latest a third here over a month ago when a beaten odds on pop. Should get a lovely run in transit and prove strong at the end.

Value: Race Six Number 1 Il Maximus
He will likely be in front and running a bold race at odds. Attempted to lead throughout here two weeks ago and gave a solid kick, but just felt the pinch late when fourth. Interesting to see if he holds the lead, or opts for cover. Whatever the scenario, he’s in with a shout at a price.

Mildura
Best Bet: Race Three Number 1 Mista Pumblechook

Hasn’t had much luck with barriers his past two but that all changes here drawn the pole. Has contested stronger races at Charlton and Shepparton respectively, and has been far from disgraced both times. He has the gate speed to hold the lead and the stable do have a great strike rate at the track.

Next Best: Race Two Number 1 Four Starzzz Ruby
On the quick back up after resuming with a solid second on Tuesday night at Swan Hill. I think she can go one better despite the quick back up.

That run earlier in the week was quite good in a race clearly stronger than what she faces here. Should hold the front from the pole and prove hard to run down.

Value: Race Eight Number 1 Goodtime Maddie
Reckon 1×3, this filly is worth a speck at price. Did far too much work on speed at Swan Hill last time out and felt the pinch when running last. Has run well at Mildura in the past and does have enough gate speed to potentially lead, and near the front, she’ll give a sight at odds.
