Australia’s men’s basketball team, the Boomers, face Argentina in the quarterfinals of the Olympic Games in Tokyo on Tuesday night hoping to continue their quest for a first ever medal at this level.

WHAT TIME DO THE BOOMERS PLAY TEAM USA IN THE SEMI-FINAL

The Boomers won all three of their pool games to make the first pot for the finals match ups, but fate dealt them a tough hand. If the Patty Mills led team can navigate the Argentina match successfully they will face the winner of the United States v Spain quarterfinal in the semis.

Argentina have not been in peak form in Tokyo and finished behind Slovenia and Spain in pool C. They were thrashed by Slovenia and also beaten by Spain before securing a play in the knocout stages by beating Japan.

The Boomers defeated Nigeria, Italy and Germany en route to top position, but have lost NBA starter Aron Baynes to a neck injury first suffered against the Italians.

The teams played a warm up game in Las Vegas in the leadup to the Olympics and Australia won narrowly with Mills sinking a three-point shot on the buzzer to claim the win.
