Two meetings to look at on Thursday, with Redcliffe and Mildura getting my focus. Down below are your best bets for the respective programs.

Redcliffe

Best bet: Race Four Number 1 Ima Chick Magnet
Takes on the older horses here as a juvenile, but this is really good placement.

Contested some strong races during the Winter Carnival and, for the most part, was far from disgraced. This looks a thin midweek race and from the pole with Pete McMullen steering, he’ll take beating.

Next-best: Race Nine Number 2 Brian Christopher
Confident he can bounce back into the winners list. Put together three wins from four runs before racing here last week and he just got too far back and left himself with too much to do.

Did a really good job to get as close as he did. Drawn well, should be near the speed and proving hard to hold out.

Value: Race Two Number 1 Champagne Reactor
She will go around close to double figures here and with that being the case, happy to back her each way.

She was favourite when racing here last week and seemed to get every chance from the 1/1 spot in a plain effort.

Should get a suck run on the fence and run a positive race.

Mildura

Best bet: Race Three Number 8 Lucinda Jamar
Looks a tricky meeting overall, but I feel she is the best on the night.

Alex Ashwood trains and drives this former NSW pacer. First run for the new camp came at Bendigo when getting the suck run behind the speed and battling on well to run second.

Good trailing draw and you’d like to think there is improvement to come.

Next-best: Race Five Number 1 Apache Wind
Just think he needs to hold up from the pole and he’s a big chance in what looks one of the better races on the night with some in-form pacers clashing.

He ran here last time out when getting a suck run on the pegs and working home well to run second to On My Oath. He gets the barrier draw advantage again and if he lands leaders back, he’ll be hard to beat.

Value: Race Eight Number 2 Promise Me Heaven
1×3 at a price, I can entertain him. Had a suck run behind the speed when racing here three weeks ago and battled on nicely when close up behind Bettor Star.

Should do no work drawing the pole (emergency likely comes out), and from there, he can be quite dangerous at odds.
