Australian basketball legend Andrew Bogut announced he won’t be calling the Boomers’ shot at a first ever Olympic medal against Slovenia, due to a contractural issue, only for a late backflip by by Channel 7, or the former NBA star.

Bogut has been calling the Boomers games along side John Casey and five-time Olympian Andrew Gaze, and will be on deck again tonight.

But on Saturday morning, hours before Patty Mills’ team takes the court for the bronze medal play off at 9pm AEST, Bogut revealed he had only been contracted for five games. This will be the team’s 6th in Tokyo.

“Big game for the Boomers against Slovenia. I’ve really enjoyed commentary with Seven but I will not be working the final Boomers game due to my contract with Channel 7 being for 5 games,” said Bogut on Twitter.

“Thanks to Seven for the opportunity and thanks to John Casey and Andrew Gaze.

“It has been an absolute pleasure working with the gurus. #GOBOOMERS.”

Bogut then said he was contemplating doing a live call on his personal Instagram account.

The Seven commentary has divided fans at the games but the basketball has been a highlight. Bogut has excelled next the always impressive Gaze.

Basketball fans took to social media to complain about the situation, which was made stranger by the fact that the Boomers could never have been eliminated after five games due to the structure of the competition.
