Two meetings to look at on Thursday, with Redcliffe and Kilmore getting my focus. Down below are your best bets for the respective programs.

Redcliffe

Best bet: Race One Number 1 Ansons Boy
Kicking off the meeting with what looks a good thing to my eye. He is third up from a year long break and should be cherry ripe fitness-wise.

Good effort here last time out from off the speed, spotting those in front a decent start. He can hold the front and prove too good.

Next-best: Race Two Number 5 Fire Eyes
The gate does make things a bit tricky but he does look quite clearly the best horse in the race and I’ll bank on his ability overcoming the draw. Resumed at Albion Park when dragged back for cover and finding the line nicely.

Depth here is weaker and he’s got upside to come.

Value: Race Four Number 1 Wavedancer
Tricky race but happy to 1×3 speck this guy. Ran here last Wednesday when getting the suck run behind the speed and sticking on well when third, beaten under two metres.

From the pole, he either leads or box seats. Whatever the scenario, I think he’s a solid each way bet.

Kilmore

Best bet: Race Two Number 3 Sergios Rocket
She is a juvenile filly on debut but has trialled very well, has the Emma Stewart polish and gets in form Kate Gath steering so on a solid card, I’ll make this first starter the best.

That trial came at Maryborough and it was a strong piece of work when winning. Confident she can make a winning debut.

Next-best: Race Three Number 4 Monarch Stride
He should have too much class for this lot. At start two, he was far from disgraced in the NSW Trotting Derby.

Spelled and resumed here where he looked a good thing on paper and duly saluted. Has the gate speed to find the front and should that eventuate, it’ll be a pretty painless watch.

Value: Race Five Number 1 Kiedis
Kate Hargreaves is fast becoming one of the more astute trainers in Victoria and she has gelding second up.

Resumed at Swan Hill where he was an odds-on pop but didn’t fire a shot and finished tailed off last. He is clearly a better horse than that and from the pole, at a better price, he deserves another chance.
